RTD
Regional Transportation District
FasTracks System
FasTracks is Denver's Regional Transportation District's (RTD's) 12-year
comprehensive plan to build and operate high-speed rail lines and expand
and improve bus service and park-n-Rides throughout the region. It
includes 119 miles of new light rail and commuter rail, 18 miles of bus
rapid transit service, 21,000 new parking spaces at rail and bus stations
and expanded bus service. FasTracks provides many ways to ride a bus or
train including driving to a park-n-Ride and get on a bus or train, taking
a bus to a rail station, walking to a bus or rail station, riding your
bike to transit stations and store your bike in lockers and racks or
taking it with you on buses and trains.
In December 2006, ProjectWest was awarded the contract to develop and
maintain Denver's RTD FasTracks web site and launched the site in
February. RTD-FasTracks.com currently features the eleven rail lines
underway and houses RTD's Small Business Opportunity Office. There is an
integrated site-wide calendar and an individual calendar, media center,
update center and spanish version for each rail line. ProjectWest
developed an innovative interactive map which allows commuters to choose
the best transit combination to reach a destination (i.e. bus rapid
transit, light rail, downtown circulator, etc.), locate the closest
station and/or find a park-n-Ride. Content areas of the sites are editable
with tiered access by the client powered by PHP. Information gathering and
calendar tools are incorporated into the content manager.
