One of Aspen's most distinctive landmarks, the Sardy House was built in 1892 by Jack Atkinson, owner of the Little Annie Mine and the Aspen Freight Company. At a time when gas light was still the norm in New York and Chicago and the capitals of Europe, this Victorian residence was one of the very first homes in the world built with electric lighting, central heat, and indoor plumbing. A century later, noted Aspen architect Harry Teague designed the renovation of the structure and its carriage house addition. Since 1985, the Sardy House has earned renown as an elegant small hotel and restaurant. This unique historic property offers multiple opportunities. Priced below replacement cost. |
